To Calafate visiting Chile
A trip to the end of the Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia
reaching the most diverse landscapes, astounding and beautiful at the same time,
next to the Andes Mountains. Inmense lakes, old forests,
crystal clear rivers, little towns, huge glaciers and
wide fields. An itinerary with a lot to travel and to know, a
great adventure to enjoy.
Program
First day, San Carlos de Bariloche
Reception at the San Carlos de Bariloche Airport. Enter the city.
Hotel by the Lake. Welcome dinner.
Second day, San Carlos de Bariloche - Pampa Linda
Travel next to the Lake Nahuel Huapi and the López Hill. Then we will pass by
the Swiss Colony (Colonia Suiza), the Catedral Hill (Cerro Catedral) y we will leave our footprints
towards the Lake Gutierrez. Continuing, we will travel to the
Mount Tronador, watching one of the region's most beautiful landscapes;n where we will find natural forests, lakes,
crystal clear rivers and springs surrounding the mountains. From the Tronador, we will go back a few miles to get to Pampa Linda. Pampa Linda Hotel.
Third Day, Pampa Linda - Trevelín
Early in the morning we will start our journey towards the Los Alerces National Park
, passing through El Bolsón, Lake Rivadavia, Lake Verde,
River Arrayanes and Lake Futalaufquen among others. Near the end of day, we will get to Trevelín. Cabins (Futalaufquen Hostel optional)
Fourth Day, Trevelín - Coyaique
During this day, we will enter Chile by the border pass of Futaleufú.
We will pass by the town of the same name and we will be witnesses of several spectacular views
of the river; where is possible to enjoy one of the most extreme raftings.
Heading south, boarding the river and the Puyuhuapi Channel, first contact with the Pacific Ocean. Following our journey between the Andinian Forests, we will reach the Coyaique.
Fifth day, Coyaique - Lake Posadas
Going once again the R7 way heading south, we will reach te famous River Baker, where the Lake Buenos Aires ends. Simple and Several populated stops appear along our way, reaching
Bertrand Point, to start from there; our return to Argentina
by the Roballos Pass, next to our destination, Lake Posadas. Lagos del Furioso Hostel.
Sixth Day, Lake Posadas - Lake Belgrano
In the morning, we will get close to Mount San Lorenzo
(3706 meters above sea level.) by the River Oro. Then we will head East
reaching Bajo Caracoles and from there; by the R40 to the Perito Moreno National Park. Menelik Inn.
Seventh Day, Lake Belgrano - El Chalten
Once again we will defy the vast Patagonian Plateau heading South, passing next to the great Lake Cardiel and reaching Lake Viedma.
Changing our course to the West we will enter El Chalten, a small
town located at the front of the Torre and Fitz Roy Hills and by the shores of the River; o Las Vueltas which flows from the beautiful Desert Lake (Lago del Desierto).

Eighth day, El Chalten
Free day to travel the region. Gathering in the night for dinner. Lodging.
Ninth day, El Chalten - Calafate
Going back to the Lake Viedma and heading South we will arrive at the origin of the river
La Leona. Our itinerary will continue until we end in the Lake Argentino. We will cross the River Santa
Cruz and continuing by the lake we will enter the Calafate. Hotel Los
Álamos.

Alternatives
1. From Futaleufú (Chile) it's possible to make diverse offroad adventures, the town has one hostel which can work as a meeting point.
2. From Lake Posadas it's possible to travel to Cañadón
del río Pinturas, entering the Patagonian Steppe.
There is a sector called Cueva de las Manos ("Cave of Hands"; where many ancient paintings can be found. These painting are 10000 years old.
To enter here it's necessary to trek 3 kilometers next to the river. Extra Night at the Estancia Los Toldos.
3. Aerial Conection El Calafate-Ushuaia . Then from Ushuaia what remains of the journey will be completed in la Isla Grande de Tierra
del Fuego.
